Bringing experience and common sense to our shared vision for a thriving Springfield
I was sworn into office at the height of the pandemic in January 2021 to represent Ward 3 and all of Springfield. It was a challenging time and yet, I was ready—it was clear we needed to focus on shoring up our communities during the pandemic, and we needed to be focused on growth and recovery. My passion has been on increasing housing at all price points, directing one-time recovery funds with common sense stewardship, and making necessary improvements to our public and life safety services and structure. Add to these huge challenges and opportunities, the need to get strategic about infrastructure improvements in Springfield, and I can assure you, I hit the ground running and have been unwavering in working to make sure we are dialed in on the needs of all Springfielders.
I also work for Developmental Disabilities Services in Lane County as part of the management team--my work includes equity and access, strategic planning, and human resources. My spouse, Teri, and I share 4 adult children and are proud Meemaws to our two grandchildren: 7 year-old Calvin and 3 year-old Penny. When not working, you can find us in our Springfield garden or wandering parks and trails!
Now that we have updated city code, our planning fees structure, and other regulations to make it easier to build ADUs (Auxiliary Dwelling Units), as well as "missing middle" housing like townhomes and cottage clusters, I believe it is equally important to make sure we have the infrastructure--roads, transportation, utility access, etc. to encourage and support that needed growth. This also means that we need to invest in our city services: our Firefighters and Emergency Responders, Public Safety, and support our community partners to ensure that we are building for a sustainable future. We may be a scrappy city of working folks, and we are also a growing city with schools, parks, businesses, and resources we can be proud of.
In my short tenure, I have stepped into the following leadership roles--locally and regionally--to represent the interests of Springfield:
I will be on the ballot in the Primary Election on May 21, 2024 and I will need your support and your vote to make sure I continue to keep the needs of every day Springfield neighbors at the table.
ENDORSE--Having the endorsement of individuals, businesses, organizations, unions, and groups is important to my grassroots campaign to represent the diversity of Springfield!
HOST A HOUSE PARTY--Invite your friends, family, and colleagues to hear more about the challenges and opportunities in Springfield and I will gladly share how they can get involved.
HOST A SIGN--We will have yard signs for your home or business!
